Job description

This position is subject to federal funding. As a condition of funding, this opportunity is open to youth aged 15-30.

WorkLink Employment Society has a summer opportunity available for a dedicated individual aspiring to work in Human Resources. During this 4-month contract, you will provide administrative support to various HR functions and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace with 40 employees. Working under the guidance of a mentor, you will gain practical knowledge and confidence by the end of the term.

This is an onsite position working up to 35 hours per week.

Wage: $20.20/hr

About The Society:

WorkLink has provided government-sponsored employment services to the residents of the Victoria Capital Region’s Westshore (Colwood, Langford, Highlands, View Royal, and Metchosin) since 1978. In 2008, our services expanded to include Sooke and surrounding areas, including Jordan River and Port Renfrew. We also offer Indigenous outreach services to the First Nations Communities of Beecher Bay, T’Souke, and Pacheedaht. Our non-profit organization is funded through federal and provincial government initiatives. WorkLink is a registered charity in BC, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors from the community.

What You’ll Do:
  • Support employee engagement by organizing team-building events
  • Assist with employee recognition initiatives, including collecting ‘Employee of the Month’ nominations and creating digital certificates
  • Help recognize employee birthdays and work anniversaries
  • Liaise with Marketing to produce content for the employee newsletter
  • Participate in the Social Committee and attend monthly meetings
  • Support recruitment by distributing and monitoring job postings
  • Assist with candidate screening through reference checks
  • Ensure employee information is complete by tracking and uploading documents
  • Maintain accurate employee files via filing and scanning
  • Help keep the shared HR inbox organized
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
