Job summary

BC Housing is recruiting an HR Administrator in Burnaby, BC. The role reports to the Supervisor, Leave, Benefits & HR Systems and handles employee records, leave entitlements, benefits, and HR data within the TMS.

The ideal candidate will have a certificate in Business Administration or related HR coursework, experience with HR data in a unionized setting, and strong confidentiality and data accuracy skills.

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Business Administration or related discipline, or completion of courses in human resources, payroll, benefits administration.
  • Sound experience in computerized HR data administration in a unionized environment.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the Employer.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain employee records, leave entitlements, benefits information, and HR data within the Talent Management System (TMS).
  • Support delivery of HR operational services by providing accurate administration of HR transactions and programs.
  • Respond to routine administrative enquiries and support data quality and reconciliation activities.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Leave, Benefits & HR Systems, the HR Administrator is responsible for the administration and maintenance of employee records, leave entitlements, benefits information, and HR data within the Talent Management System (TMS). He/she/they supports the delivery of HR operational services by providing accurate and timely administration of HR transactions and programs, responding to routine administrative enquiries, and supporting data quality and reconciliation activities. The position processes and maintains employee records in accordance with collective agreements, Terms and Conditions of Employment, organizational policies, and applicable legislation.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Certificate in Business Administration or other related discipline, or completion of courses in human resources, payroll, benefits administration.
  • Sound experience in computerized HR data administration in a unionized environment.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the Employer.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Sound knowledge of the policies, practices, procedures, and government regulations pertaining to HR data administration, employee leave and benefits processing, and maintenance of computerized employee records.
  • Sound knowledge of HR information systems, word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Sound knowledge of office administration and payroll-related compliance, regulations, and standards.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent detail orientation.
  • Excellent computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and display a high degree of judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to uphold privacy and confidentiality of sensitive employee and HR information.
  • Ability to understand collective agreements, and Terms and Conditions of Employment.
  • Ability to work well under time pressure and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with matters of a confidential nature.
