Housing and Cultural Coordinator

McMan Calgary

Internal/External

Meaningful work. Lasting impact.

At McMan Calgary & Area, connection is at the centre of everything we do. Each year, we support more than 5,000 children, youth, adults and families facing complex challenges, including mental health concerns, addiction, homelessness, poverty and disability. We believe every person has deep and lasting worth, and we see people for who they are, not for what they're facing.

Our work supports people to rebuild and strengthen connections to self, peers, family, community, culture and the land. Belonging, identity and wellbeing grow through relationships because people need people. Professional support is there for a season or a reason, not a lifetime. We create the conditions; people build the lives they want for themselves.

The Role

Help people find a home, and find their place in community. As our Housing and Cultural Coordinator, you’ll hold a role with two connected purposes: helping Indigenous relatives secure and keep safe, stable housing, and strengthening their connection to culture.

On the housing side, you’ll partner with case managers, landlords, and community partners to keep tenancies on solid ground. You’ll support housing placement, landlord relations, rental subsidies, conflict resolution, move-in coordination, and program reporting.

On the cultural side, you’ll lead the development and delivery of culturally grounded programming that promotes wellness, belonging, and engagement. Working alongside Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners, you’ll make sure every activity is meaningful, accessible, and responsive to what relatives need.

Together, these two sides of the work help relatives build stability, deepen their connection to culture, and move toward their own goals. If you’re an experienced coordinator who loves building bridges, between people and homes and between people and community, and you have a shared commitment to McMan’s core values of Respect, Trust, Empathy, Genuineness, and Commitment, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Opening doors to stable housing: Support relatives in finding, securing, and keeping safe, stable housing. Work alongside case managers to understand each person’s goals and barriers, and help them through every step from search to placement.
  • Building strong landlord and community partnerships: Build and maintain trusting, respectful relationships with landlords, housing providers, and community partners. Be the reliable point of contact and the bridge between tenants and the people who house them.
  • Setting tenancies up for success: Coordinate rental supports, move-in logistics, and individualized housing retention plans, and step in early with conflict resolution to help tenancies stay on solid ground.
  • Creating spaces for culture and belonging: Plan and facilitate culturally grounded programs and activities that promote wellness, belonging, and engagement. Make sure each one is meaningful, accessible, and responsive to what relatives need.
  • Learning and working alongside Elders and Knowledge Keepers: Collaborate respectfully with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners to design and deliver activities, honouring their guidance, expertise, and cultural protocols.
  • Showing the difference we make: Keep accurate, timely program documentation, reporting, and data tracking so we can show what’s working, meet program requirements, and keep improving.
  • Meeting people where they are: Work a flexible schedule that could include evenings so you can meet the needs of relatives, the program, and the organization.
  • Upholding Core Values and Service Standards: Ensuring daily work, decisions and interactions reflect McMan’s five core values—Commitment, Trust, Empathy, Respect and Genuineness—and align with our service delivery framework.
