Job summary

Shannex Incorporated is seeking a Housekeeping (Suite Services Attendant) for Parkland At The Lakes 2 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The role involves cleaning resident areas, stocking supplies, and supporting dining and laundry tasks to maintain a comfortable living environment.

The position requires high school completion and at least one year of housekeeping or laundry experience, with CPR/First Aid an asset. Applicants must obtain background checks as required.

Qualifications

  • High School/ GED completion.
  • Minimum of one year experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Must obtain a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to appointment.
  • Experience in housekeeping and/or laundry is an asset.
  • Experience in food services is an asset.
  • Experience in long-term care is an asset.
  • Ability to learn and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, counters, shelving, walls and window/door ledges.
  • Cleans sinks, toilets and bath facilities.
  • Replenishes supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and rest rooms.
  • Empties trash and maintains cleanliness of common areas.
  • Ensures food quality, presentation, dining room appearance and service delivery meet department standards.
  • Assists with meal service ensuring correct temperature and portion size.
  • Reports equipment/temperature issues to supervisor and takes corrective actions.
  • Keeps up to date with daily menu/resident changes.
  • Prepares carts for passes and snacks, assists with distribution as needed.
  • Sorts laundry into appropriate piles and operates washers/dryers correctly.
  • Sorts and delivers clean laundry to resident areas; notes name tags.
  • Checks for damages and forwards items needing repair.

About The Opportunity
  • Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, counters, shelving, walls, and window/door ledges.
  • Cleans sinks, toilets and bath facilities
  • Fills and replenishes supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and rest rooms
  • Empties and cleans trash receptacles and places trash in compactor and/or trash pickup area
  • Ensures that food quality, presentation, dining room appearance and service delivery meet established department standards
  • Ensures meals are attractive, the correct temperature and portion size, and that service is on time
  • Immediately reports any equipment/temperature issues to supervisor and takes corrective actions as necessary
  • Stays up to date with daily changes related to menus and/or residents.
  • Ensure food is received and stored properly
  • Prepares cart for fluid passes, snacks and night lunch for residents. Assists with distribution when needed
  • Provides resident menu feedback to manager via temperature audit sheet, feedback form or verbally
  • Sorts laundry into appropriate piles based on the type of laundry (linens, mops, personal clothing)
  • Operates washing machine using proper washing formulas
  • Operates dryer and extractor; loads clean, wet laundry into the machine, sets dials so the laundry is dried or damp-dried appropriately and unloads the machine
  • Sorts clean laundry into appropriate baskets or racks; counts linen needed for each area as per linen quota and puts on cart; notes name tags on resident clothing and puts on correct rack
  • Picks up soiled laundry and delivers clean laundry to resident areas within the facility using laundry carts
  • Checks laundry for tears, holes, missing buttons, etc. and forwards clothing needing repair to the seamstress
  • Additional duties as assigned/required
About You
  • High School/ GED completion
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry preferred
  • Proof of valid CPR/First Aid Certification considered an asset
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment
  • Previous experience working in housekeeping and/or laundry considered an asset
  • Previous experience working in food services considered an asset
  • Previous experience in working in a long-term care an asset
  • Ability to learn and work in fast paced environment
  • Ability to work a schedule of flexible hours/ shifts inclusive of days, weekends and holidays
