Job summary

Eldorado Resort in Kelowna, BC is seeking a Housekeeping Manager (12-Month Term) to lead daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry department while maintaining the highest level of guest service. You will motivate and coach the team, hire and train staff, and collaborate with Front Office, Reservations and Maintenance to ensure a premium guest room experience.

This role oversees budgets, inventories and quality control, ensures safety standards, and strives to exceed guest satisfaction

Responsibilities

• Motivate, coach, and inspire team members to provide exceptional services to our guests.
• Interview, hire, train, recommend performance management, resolve problems, provide open communication, and discipline as needed.
• Collaborate with Front Office, Reservations and Maintenance to ensure a premium guest room experience.
• Provide clear direction in assigning housekeeping and laundry staff.
• Inspect suites and public areas to ensure cleanliness and readiness.
• Address deficiencies and retrain as needed.
• Perform housekeeping duties to maintain guest satisfaction.
• Respond to guest complaints and special requests to ensure satisfaction.
• Manage finances of housekeeping and laundry operations including budget and inventory controls.
• Ensure health, wellness, and safety standards are met and exceeded.
• Oversee scheduling and performance management with Supervisors and HR.
• Plan, budget, and report on operations to improve efficiency and targets.
• Create departmental plans and measurable objectives for Housekeeping.
• Forecast needs of the department and address them proactively.
• Maintain lost and found records.
• Collaborate to identify business requirements and implement solutions.
• Resolve guest service issues and remove barriers to excellence.

Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for managing all of the daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry department at Eldorado Resort while ensuring the highest level of guest service is maintained within this department.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standard:

• Motivating, coaching, and inspiring team members to provide exceptional services to our guests.
• Interview, hire, train, recommend performance management, resolve problems, provide open communication, and discipline and/or termination when approved.
• Collaborates effectively with all other department heads and leaders. Work closely with the Front Office, Reservations and Maintenance Teams to ensure a premium guest room experience.
• Provide clear direction in assigning and instructing housekeeping and laundry staff on details of work.
• Inspect all assigned suites and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest rooms/suites, equipment, linens, and public areas are clean and in good repair to meet guest satisfaction.
• Advise employees of deficiencies and instruct on corrective action. Provide adequate retraining as needed.
• Routinely perform all housekeeping duties necessary including making beds, vacuuming, and cleaning guest suites to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Respond to guest complaints, and special requests and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
• Maintaining supply and equipment inventories while monitoring expenditure and cost controls.
• Manage finances of housekeeping and laundry operations including budget and inventory controls. Analyze data and compile reports on expenditures, wages, labour, supplies, etc. in relation to hotel financial forecasts and budgets. Establish and maintain adequate supplies for the efficient operation of the department.
• Ensuring that health, wellness, and safety standards are met and exceeded, including knowledge of and proper use of cleaning and other chemicals, safe work practices, etc.
• Overseeing fair and effective scheduling and performance management of the team members in conjunction with the Housekeeping Supervisors and Human Resources.
• Effective planning, problem-solving, budgeting & reporting to continually improve operations & efficiency. Striving to achieve service goals and financial targets.
• Create and implement a departmental plan and measurable objectives for Housekeeping that supports the Company’s overall strategy.
• Forecasting and proactively addressing the needs of the housekeeping department.
• Maintains lost and found records.
• Collaborates with other leaders and supervisors to identify and analyze business requirements and the implications for the team; identifies gaps and implements agreed-upon solutions.
• Resolves guest service issues and identifies and removes potential barriers to guest service excellence across Eldorado Resort.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

To successfully fill this role, you should demonstrate the following:

• Previous experience as a Housekeeping Manager is required.
