Job summary

YMCA BC in Prince George is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Housekeeping Attendant. The role offers 8–24 hours per week with evening shifts (5:30pm–1:00am) and a start date as soon as possible. The wage is $18.30 per hour, reporting to the Manager, Facility Maintenance.

The successful candidate will maintain high cleanliness standards, support the team, and ensure the facility is ready for members daily. Safety and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience and training related to building maintenance and cleaning.
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C (valid within 3 years).
• WHMIS Certification.
• Experience in recreation or health services facility is an asset.
• Ability to meet ongoing physical needs (walking, standing, lifting, etc.).
• Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search within 6 months of start date.
• Three professional references.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day cleaning of the YMCA as per work schedule.
• Support the Maintenance and Housekeeping Team.
• Perform grounds maintenance, minor construction, painting.
• Clean rooms, bathrooms, fixtures; stock dispensers.
• Clean and maintain change rooms, bathrooms, and fitness spaces.
• Clean and service fitness and maintenance equipment.
• Interact with members and staff in a friendly manner.
• Work independently, safely.

Nature & Scope

The housekeeping team is responsible for meeting the highest standards of building cleanliness to ensure our members have an enjoyable experience in a clean facility. Completing cleaning tasks to ensure the facility is ready for members to use on a daily basis.

Major Responsibilities - in this position, you will :

• To perform the day-to-day cleaning of the YMCA as specified in the work schedule
• To support the Maintenance and Housekeeping Team
• Performing general maintenance duties such as grounds maintenance (lawns, gardens, snow clearing and sanding), minor/basic construction and repair, painting
• Performing general housekeeping duties such as cleaning rooms and bathroom floors, glass, fixtures, servicing and stocking paper, soap and sanitizer dispensers.
• To clean and maintain change rooms, bathrooms, shower and steam room facilities
• To clean and maintain the Fitness floor, studios, classrooms and childcare spaces.
• Cleaning and servicing fitness and maintenance equipment
• To interact with members, staff and volunteers in a friendly, welcoming manner
• Working independently, consciously and safely

Qualifications - you bring :

• A combination of experience and training related to building maintenance and cleaning
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C (valid within 3 years)
• WHMIS Certification
• Experience working in a recreation or health services related facility or similar public venue is an asset
• Ability to meet & maintain the ongoing physical needs (walking, standing, lifting, push/pull, etc.) of the job, in all types of climates (indoor & outdoor)
• Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
• Three professional references
