Job summary

The Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current is seeking a Housekeeping Aide to maintain a safe, clean environment for patients, staff and visitors. You will perform daily, weekly and periodic cleaning across patient and non-patient areas in line with hospital standards.

Starting wage is $25.20–$26.90 per hour depending on experience. Required: partial secondary school (Grade 10); preferred: prior hospital cleaning experience; strong teamwork and knowledge of cleaning procedures and WHMIS.

Qualifications

• Partial Secondary School (Grade 10) is required.
• Previous cleaning experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning across patient areas, non-patient areas, offices and common areas in accordance with Manitoulin Health Centre standards.
• Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• Follow infection control guidelines and use cleaning procedures and chemicals safely (WHMIS).

POSITION SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for providing a safe, comfortable environment for all patients, staff, and visitors by ensuring that all types of cleaning are performed throughout the hospital facility indoors and out. This includes, but is not limited to, daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning requirements of patient areas, non-patient areas, offices, and common areas in accordance with Manitoulin Health Centre standards.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications, Experience, Licensure)

Required:

• Partial Secondary School (Grade 10)

Preferred:

• Previous cleaning experience in a hospital or healthcare setting

• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals handling and WHMIS

STARTING WAGE:

• $25.20-26.90 per hour based on experience

Appointment shall be made of the senior applicant able to meet the normal requirements of the job.

In accordance with the CUPE collective agreement if there are no applicants from the bargaining unit, employees in other MHC CUPE bargaining units will be selected in accordance with the same criteria prior to considering persons who are not members of MHC CUPE bargaining units.
