Job summary

West Coast Seniors Housing Management is seeking a Housekeeper to perform comprehensive cleaning duties within our communities. The role reports to the Support Services Manager and emphasizes sanitation, resident safety, and a clean, welcoming environment for residents and staff.

Qualifications include Grade 10, WHMIS and First Aid certificates, and a Vulnerable Sector Check. The position requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs and English proficiency to follow instructions.

Qualifications

  • WHMIS and First Aid certificates required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
  • Must pass Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check under provincial guidelines.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and rotation cleaning throughout the building and suites.
  • Dust, vacuum, sweep, wash floors, walls, windows and doors; change and make beds; remove curtains for cleaning and re-hanging.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents, family and staff; follow accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain orderly, safe, and clean work areas; replenish supplies and manage carts.
  • Utilize infection control procedures and report significant changes to nursing staff.
  • Attend community and education programs; perform other related duties as required.

About The Role

The Housekeeper reports to the Support Services Manager and/or designate and performs all aspects of cleaning duties in the community to maintain the established standards for sanitation, cleanliness, and safe work environment for all persons served.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

  • Be an engaged collaborative team player, developing and maintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen the organizational culture and purpose.
  • Carries out all aspects of routine and rotation cleaning throughout the building and suites which include: dusting, vacuuming and sweeping; cleaning appliances; washing floors, walls, windows and doors; changing and making beds, removing curtains/window coverings for cleaning and re-hanging; garbage removal; terminal cleaning of suites.
  • Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through:accident prevention,
  • accident prevention,
  • knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations,
  • the safe use of supplies and equipment and reporting when repairs are necessary
  • keeps work area in an orderly, safe and clean condition
  • keeps inventory in order on individual carts; replenishes supplies throughout the building, and
  • Utilizing infection control procedures
  • Reports significant changes or uncommon resident behaviour or concerns to nursing staff as required..
  • Attends and participates in community and education programs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • WHMIS Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate as applicable.
  • Free from communicable diseases and allergies or conditions which may be aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  • Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Must be able to work with cleaners, detergents and other cleaning equipment.
