Job summary

Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge seeks a Household Wellness Coordinator to support clients by connecting them with housing resources and agencies across Canada. You will advocate for families, help establish care plans, and ensure smooth transitions to new households while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in social sciences or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Bill C-92 and the Miyo Pimatisowin Act is highly desired.

Details

Salary Range: $30.73-$39.94 (Commensurate with qualifications)

Type: Permanent Full-time

Details: Standard of 80 working hours bi-weekly

Location: Regina and Cowessess First Nation, SK

Position Summary

Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge is seeking a Household Wellness Coordinator to provide support and services to our clients. Working within a team setting and reporting to the Director of Family Enhancement and Preservation, the Household Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for working with the community and connecting clients with appropriate housing organizations as well as providing them with options and guidance in regard to all things associated with ensuring a healthy and stable household.

The Household Wellness Coordinator will ensure clear and continuous communication with those they are supporting, including members of their team and external agencies/housing organizations to ensure timely placements of new families when required. They will be required to provide referrals and advocacy as well as supporting families by helping them establish care plans and goals and ensuring a successful transition to their new household. To be successful, the coordinator must be a relationship builder, compassionate, self-motivated, personable, goal oriented, willing and able to travel and have a strong understanding of housing needs/challenges within Cowessess First Nation as well as across Canada.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Diploma or degree in social sciences or related human services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge of Bill C-92 and the Miyo Pimatisowin Act is highly desired
  • Knowledgeable in utilizing and coordinating various community and government based resources, with the capability of providing an assortment of supports to meet the household needs of families and/or individuals
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and knowledge of First Nations values, culture, traditions, and governance;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills including significant attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (i.e., word, excel, SharePoint, etc.).

  • An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form genuine and trusting relationships with children, parents, and coworkers.
  • Able to lead conversation, guiding families in goal setting and establishing milestones.
  • An active listener with the ability to display empathy, patience and understanding.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work productively with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledgeable of addiction issues and how they impact everyday living.
  • Self aware and engages in holistic wellness activities/principles.

The incumbent must provide a successful criminal background check with vulnerable sector search as well as be willing and able to travel on a regular basis.
