Job summary

Simaril is seeking a House Leader for our residential program in Manitoba to supervise Direct Support Workers, coordinate daily supports, and help residents achieve personal goals within the community.

The role blends hands-on Direct Support, administrative duties, and leadership responsibilities, with a starting wage of $22.60 per hour and full-time hours; benefits after probation, group benefits, RRSP, and equipment provided. Schedule includes Mon-Fri shifts in the Winnipeg area.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of direct support work experience.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience.
  • DCSP or related post-secondary education.
  • Proficiency in computer programs.
  • Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Current criminal record and abuse registry checks.
  • First Aid Certification (level C).

Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with supported individuals, families, and agencies.
  • Advocate for supported individuals when necessary.
  • Encourage expression of wants and needs.
  • Identify service needs and inform management.
  • Assist in program planning and management.
  • Participate in selection of individuals served.
  • Support property and transportation management.
  • Ensure secure record keeping.

House Leader – Residential Program:

The House Leader oversees and takes the leadership role on a support team. The House Leader coordinates and manages all day-to-day support to ensure that the persons supported achieve their personal goals, build relationships, make informed choices, and exercise their rights. The House Leader ensures the support team has the resources necessary to help them facilitate people's participation in social roles that lead to integration into a typical and valued life in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities
General:
  • Maintain positive communication.
  • Maintain positive public relations.
  • Follow confidentiality and privacy policies.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide relief resources when needed.
  • Report changes to management.
Direct Support:

Hours of Work and Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with hours reflective of the locations assigned. To provide additional support outside the standard work hours, you may be required to work some overtime hours with paid compensation. This position generally includes Direct Support Work for approximately 60-80% of the time and Administrative and leadership duties for 20-40% of the time.

We are currently looking to fill the following schedule:

Monday - 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Tuesday - 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Wednesday - 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Thursday - 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Friday - 8:30 am-4:30 pm

Physical requirements

This job requires a lot of sitting, walking, bending, and lifting. The House Leader is frequently exposed to noise and a regular flow of people around the office or at the work location.

Compensation & Benefits:

The House Leader's wage starts at $22.60 an hour.
