Job summary

Life’s Journey Inc. in Winnipeg is seeking a House Lead for the Residential Services program.

This full-time, permanent role supports participants, maintains a safe home, and ensures that all program requirements are met while following Personnel Policies and safety procedures. The House Lead provides training and mentorship to Residential Support Mentors and collaborates closely with the Residential Care Team.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with suicidal ideations, dual mental health diagnoses and self-harming behaviors.
  • Three years of experience in a related role and supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Understanding of Manitoba Licensing Legislation, Regulations, and Standards; planning, organizational and administrative skills.
  • Satisfactory Child and Adult Abuse Registry check, Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector search) and Driver’s Abstract and License.
  • Certification of First Aid Level 1 – Emergency.
  • Ability to attend work regularly as scheduled or requested.
  • Demonstrated language, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Cultural knowledge competence and participation in agency training for development.
  • A safe and reliable vehicle with proof of appropriate insurance on the vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe home environment and provide direct support to Residential Program participants.
  • Participate in planning, monitoring and communication of each participant’s program planning documents.
  • Provide training, mentorship and resources for Residential Support Mentors.
  • Collaborate with Residential Care Team and other stakeholders to support participants.
  • Ensure positive interactions with collaterals associated with the participants.

Hours Worked:Monday - Friday: 8am-4pm

Location:604 Riverton (Winnipeg, MB)

OVERALLRESPONSIBILITY

The House Lead is responsible for maintaining a safehome environment while providing ongoing direct support of the participants ofthe Residential Program; ensuring all program requirements are consistentlybeing met. This includes participating in the ongoing planning, monitoring andcommunication of activities of the program participants that are in relation toeach participant’s program planning documents. The House Lead is expected tofollow the Personnel Policies, including Workplace Health and Safety Policies,the Operational Practices and the goals of Life’s Journey Inc. in completingtheir duties.The House Lead provides training,mentorship, support and resources for Residential Support Mentors.

This position works collaboratively with othermembers of the Residential Care Team including Residential SupportMentors, other House Leads, Clinical Case Managers, Residential Case Workers,Residential Assistant Coordinators, the Residential Coordinator and ProgramManager. In addition to the Residential Care Team, the House Lead is alsoresponsible to ensure positive interactions with collaterals associated withthe participants being supported.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: RESIDENTIAL COORDINATOR & CLINICAL CASE MANAGER

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working with individuals with suicidalideations, dual mental health diagnoses and self-harming behaviors.
  • Optimally, three years of experience in a relatedrole and supporting individuals with disabilities, demonstrating empathy anddeveloping practical, supportive, and effective working relationships.
  • Previous,residential experience and understanding of Manitoba Licensing Legislation, Regulations,and Standards, as well as, planning, organizational and administrative skills.
  • SatisfactoryChild and Adult Abuse Registry check, satisfactory Criminal Record Check(vulnerable sector search) and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and License.
  • Certificationof First Aid Level 1 – Emergency.
