Job summary

Sunshine Village Corporation in Banff, Canada is seeking a Room Checker to support the Housekeeping Supervisory Team by overseeing daily tasks and ensuring adherence to quality standards that meet guest expectations.

You will supervise cleaning of guest rooms and public spaces, assist guests and colleagues, report issues, and help maintain safety and professional appearance. This role requires physical stamina and a team player mindset, with a focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Overall cleaning of guest rooms, including dusting, beds, linen, towels, vacuuming, bathroom, and amenities.
• Clean all assigned rooms per shift.
• Assist guests and colleagues politely; answer inquiries about area and hotel services.
• Maintain and clean public spaces and washrooms as required.
• Follow safety regulations for all tasks.
• Adhere to company policies and protect assets; maintain professional appearance.
• Communicate clearly, prepare documents accurately, and answer telephones with proper etiquette.
• Develop positive working relationships and support team goals.
• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Room Checker provides an outstanding guest experience by participating in & assisting with the oversight of the daily tasks of the Hotel Room Attendant as required by the Housekeeping Supervisory Team. They assist in ensuring the implementation of quality assurance standards and ensure guests’ needs and expectations are met.

• Supervisory duties; assisting in managing a team of co-workers to ensure their section of rooms and public spaces are cleaned in a timely manner, serving as a departmental role model.
• Complying with quality assurance expectations and standards, including inspecting sites & facilities to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
• All the functions of a Hotel Room Attendant as per below:

• Overall cleaning of the guest rooms to include, but not be limited to: dusting, making beds, removing soiled linen/ garbage, replenishing towels and amenities, vacuuming, spraying and wiping tile floor, cleaning bathroom, replacing dirty glassware
• Ability to clean all assigned rooms per shift.
• Offering assistance to guests and colleagues in a courteous manner; answering guest inquiries regarding the area and hotel services and facilities.
• Cleaning & maintaining public spaces, areas and washrooms as required.
• Working in compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks.

• Following all company policies and procedures, ensuring uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional, maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information, and protecting company assets.
• Communicating with others using clear and professional language, preparing and reviewing written documents accurately and answering telephones using appropriate etiquette.
• Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with others, supporting team to reach common goals, and listening and responding appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
• Standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Considerations:

• Employees must always be of a sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
• This position requires the ability to lift heavy items, walking, standing, crouching, and kneeling for periods of time. This position is also in a high-altitude environment. An appropriate level of physical fitness is required.
• Some required uniform pieces are provided. Candidates must be prepared and wear appropriate footwear, gloves, layers, etc. for the conditions of an indoor role at a ski area.
