Your role

We are looking for a host assigned to Par ici l'info, a live radio show airing from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., Monday to Friday.

You have a natural talent for storytelling, insatiable curiosity, and a particular knack for uncovering information during daily interviews. You’re deeply familiar with the Estrie region—its population’s interests, concerns, and challenges are no mystery to you. You enjoy explaining, analyzing, and breaking down the news.

You are curious and open-minded, welcoming different viewpoints and ideas. You understand that making great radio requires a wide range of tones. You're excited by the opportunity to experiment with talk radio formats and innovate in how topics are covered.

You’re eager to work with an experienced and dedicated team that has contributed to Par ici l'info’s success for many years.

You will play a key role in helping us engage and grow new audiences through the variety of topics and perspectives featured on the show, our presence in the digital space, and through outreach activities and public events held in the Estrie region.

You embody and promote the values of a respectful, inclusive culture. As a team leader, you demonstrate a positive attitude with colleagues and are always looking for creative solutions to challenges.

Please note that the working hours are from 4:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities:

  • Take part in planning, designing, and organizing the show or show segments.
  • Interact spontaneously with guests, journalists, contributors, experts, and members of the public.
  • Conduct news interviews across all topics, both pre-planned and on-the-spot.
  • Promote content across all platforms, including in the digital space, and engage with the audience.
  • Stay up to date with current events and maintain subject-matter expertise.
  • Participate in public or community relations activities to promote the show or CBC/Radio-Canada.
  • Represent the Corporation or the show in various forums.

As needed, you may also:

  • Take on production responsibilities for the show or specific segments.
  • Suggest interview ideas and guests, prepare notes and questions, conduct live or pre-recorded interviews, and ensure narrative flow between segments.
  • Present segments or content on other radio or television programs.

Your profile:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of on-air experience or equivalent

Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of regional issues and events in the Estrie area
  • Strong knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs
  • Broad range of interests and knowledge that reflects your curiosity about various current topics, and ability to make them relevant to existing and new audiences
  • Engaging, dynamic, and spontaneous personality with an authentic on-air presence
  • Thoughtful, well-informed, cultured, and nuanced individual
  • Outstanding journalistic skills, especially in critical thinking, storytelling, and interviewing
  • Openness to diverse perspectives, ideas, and opinions
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including collaboration with other CBC/Radio-Canada units
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Genuine interest in public-facing activities and serving as an ambassador for the public broadcaster and the show
  • Knowledge of social media and digital platforms, and creative ideas to use them to connect with and grow the audience, definite assets
  • Technical skills, including field recording and audio editing, strong assets
