Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Hospitality Director to lead catering operations in Toronto. The role emphasizes overseeing catering orders, invoicing, and end-to-end administrative tasks, ensuring specifications are clearly communicated and executed at all levels.

The ideal candidate will have a hospitality degree or equivalent supervisory experience, strong leadership and client relations skills, and the ability to manage food and labour costs while driving service excellence across events.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Hospitality/Food Service or equivalent experience, including supervisory experience
  • AFST (Advanced Food Safety Training)
  • Responsible Beverage Service Certificate
  • Strong management skills, capable of motivating, leading and developing associates
  • Excellent client relationship-building and communication skills
  • Ability to control food and labour costs
  • Detail-oriented and a strong team player
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with utilizing multiple supporting programs
  • Must have ability to support managing larger groups in the main Retail Food operation

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and organize catering orders with weekly invoicing
  • Perform administrative duties, including: All booking, coordinating and follow-up on all catering events, reconciling billing and invoices and preparing month end
  • Ensure specifications and requests of each catering event are communicated and executed down the channel effectively
  • Work collaboratively on menu planning with clients and Executive Chef, and identify revenue-generating opportunities
  • Assist in production, hiring, employee training, staff scheduling, associate supervising, as well as addressing and resolving employee relations issues
  • Direct department activities and maintain highest-quality service standards
  • Maintain compliance with industry, company, and legislative standards
  • Develop team and provide performance improvement programs

Job description

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. Please note that artificial intelligence–based tools may be used at certain stages of the recruitment and applicant screening process.
