McMaster University in Central Campus is seeking a Hospitality Associate for the McLean Building on a seasonal part-time basis. You will assist with portering, banquet setup, and service during catering events.

The role requires at least two years in catering or restaurants, strong English communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, fine dining environment. Schedule varies weekly, 24 to 39 hours.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in catering or restaurants.
  • Must have good communication, reading, writing and English skills.

Responsibilities

  • Portering duties with repetitive lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Set up and tear down banquet rooms.
  • Provide catering set ups with a flair for table presentation.
  • Deliver great customer relations in a fine dining setting.
  • Familiar with a variety of service styles.
  • Serve at banquets as needed.
  • Occasionally work at other catering locations.
  • Perform all duties as required at or below job classification level.
  • Demonstrate time management to meet schedules in a high pace environment.
  • Accurately complete daily reports and logs.
  • Complete food safety training.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Description

Must be able to perform portering duties which include repetitive lifting of 40lbs. Will be responsible for setting up and tearing down banquet rooms.

Must have experience doing catering set ups with a flair for table presentation.

Must have great customer relations skills and be comfortable working in a fine dining setting.

Must be familiar with a variety of service styles.

Must have experience serving at banquets.

Will occasionally be needed to work at other catering locations.

Required to perform all duties of any job classification equivalent or lower as required

Must have demonstrated time management skills to meet strict schedule and timelines. Must be able to work efficiently, accurately, and independently in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
