Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) is a partnership of Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH), located in Strathroy, Ontario, and Four Counties Health Services (FCHS), located in Newbury, Ontario.

Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH)

SMGH is situated thirty minutes west of London off of the 402 Highway. Strathroy is a vibrant community with a population of approximately 14,000, and a primary catchment area totalling 45,000 residents.

SMGH is an accredited community hospital with exemplary standing and 54 acute‑care beds. The Hospital’s Emergency Department sees about 26,000 visits per year.

SMGH has approximately 14 local family physicians who provide services to the hospital and is supported by a complement of specialty services including Anesthesia, General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastics, Psychiatry, Radiology and Urology. Tertiary care referrals are made to London. The hospital also has a full complement of allied health‑care professionals on site.

Practice requirements for the Hospitalist position: The Hospitalist will be the Most Responsible Physician for unattached inpatients and will work collaboratively with local family physicians. The Hospitalist will participate in on‑call responsibilities as part of the care team and may have opportunities to serve as a surgical assistant.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will hold an independent license to practice with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, ACLS certification, CMPA or equivalent, and have experience in hospital‑based medicine.

The physician will maintain 100% of the OHIP billings for inpatients and HOCC allowance, with opportunities for other sources of income available. Further information is available to interested physicians upon request.
