Job description

The Island Health Hospitalist group at Comox Valley Hospital (CVH) is seeking new team members to join our vibrant community on Vancouver Island. Enjoy a lifestyle where you can ski, kayak, mountain bike, golf, climb, and hike during your free time.

We are a supportive team of approximately 10-15 members committed to providing comprehensive care within our 153-bed hospital.

Our collaborative network includes specialists, rehabilitation staff, and nursing professionals. Each physician cares for about 15 patients, serving as the Medical Responsible Physician (MRP) for a diverse range of medical cases, supervising Low Intensity Rehab Unit patients, and consulting for specialists.

We welcome full-time, part-time, and locum physicians. Our current staffing includes 3 day shifts (0800-1700) and 1 night shift (1700-0800), with plans to expand to 4-5 day shifts. We offer flexible scheduling and support to ensure all members work preferred days and hours. Our new contract with Island Health allows for growth and includes patient load maximums. Our compensation rates are competitive with other hospitalist contracts across Vancouver Island and British Columbia.

Additional remuneration may be available under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change):

• Recruitment Incentive: up to $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Relocation: up to $15,000 (based on origin)
• Flat fee: $7,977.42
• Fee Premium: 6.93%
• CME: Starting at $2,200/year in years 3 & 4, increasing to $4,400/year after 4 years
