Job summary

GardaWorld is hiring a Hospital Tactical Security Guard to protect patients, staff and visitors in a healthcare setting. You will patrol facilities, screen entrants, respond to emergencies, and support safety programs.

We provide hands-on training through GardaWorldAcademy, uniform supplied, and growth opportunities within a security-focused career. Applicants must hold a Saskatchewan Security Guard License or be willing to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Legally allowed to work in Canada.
• Saskatchewan Security Guard License (or willingness to obtain)
• Criminal background check clear
• First Aid/CPR certification is an asset

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and ensure safety of hospital facilities.
• Control access points and verify identities for authorized entry.
• Operate walk-through and handheld detectors for screening.
• Provide clear, respectful instructions during screening.
• Maintain calm, professional presence in high-stress environments.
• Support patient safety and watch duties for wandering patients.
• Respond to incidents such as alarms or threats.
• De-escalate conflicts and intervene to maintain safety.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems and report concerns.

Responsibilities for Hospital Tactical Security Guard

• Conduct regular patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and maintain the safety and security of hospital facilities.
• Control access points and verify identities to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
• Operate walk-through and handheld metal detectors to screen patients, visitors, staff, and contractors in accordance with hospital security policies.
• Provide clear instructions and maintain a respectful, professional approach during security screening.
• Maintain a calm presence in a high-stress healthcare environment, including during emergencies or high-volume periods.
• Assist with patient safety, including monitoring missing or wandering patients and supporting patient watch duties.
• Respond to incidents such as Code White events, fire alarms, aggression, or security threats.
• De-escalate conflicts and intervene when necessary to maintain safety.
• Monitor and inspect security equipment including CCTV, panic alarms, and fire safety systems.
• Maintain detailed incident reports and communicate security concerns with hospital staff and supervisors.
• Support law enforcement and emergency responders during serious incidents.

Qualifications for Hospital Tactical Security Guard

• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Valid Saskatchewan Security Guard License certificate (or willing to obtain – we can assist with the process)
• Clear criminal background check
• First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
• Ability to work independently and remain alert in a dynamic environment
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies
• Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• Comfortable using workplace technology; experience with CCTV systems considered an asset
• Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment considered an asset
