Job summary

GardaWorld is seeking a Hospital Security Guard to join our team in Saskatchewan, Canada. You will patrol hospital facilities, monitor access points and screening procedures, and respond calmly to emergencies to keep patients, staff and visitors safe.

The role offers hands-on training, uniform provided, and clear opportunities for career growth within GardaWorld. Must be legally permitted to work in Canada and hold or obtain Saskatchewan Security Guard certification.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure in emergencies.
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and maintain hospital safety.
• Control access points and verify identities for restricted areas.
• Operate screening equipment (walk-through and handheld metal detectors) per policies.
• Provide clear, respectful instructions during screening and emergencies.
• Maintain calm presence in high-stress healthcare environments and assist with patient safety.
• Respond to incidents such as Code White, fires or security threats.
• De-escalate conflicts and coordinate with staff and responders.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms and fire safety systems; report concerns.

Responsibilities for Hospital Security Guard

• Conduct regular patrols to monitor for suspicious activity and maintain the safety and security of hospital facilities.
• Control access points and verify identities to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
• Operate walk-through and handheld metal detectors to screen patients, visitors, staff, and contractors in accordance with hospital security policies.
• Provide clear instructions and maintain a respectful, professional approach during security screening.
• Maintain a calm presence in a high-stress healthcare environment, including during emergencies or high-volume periods.
• Assist with patient safety, including monitoring missing or wandering patients and supporting patient watch duties.
• Respond to incidents such as Code White events, fire alarms, aggression, or security threats.
• De‑escalate conflicts and intervene when necessary to maintain safety.
• Monitor and inspect security equipment including CCTV, panic alarms, and fire safety systems.
• Maintain detailed incident reports and communicate security concerns with hospital staff and supervisors.
• Support law enforcement and emergency responders during serious incidents.

Qualifications for Hospital Security Guard

• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Valid Saskatchewan Security Guard License (or willing to obtain – we can assist with the process)
• Clear criminal background check
• First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift
• Ability to work independently and remain alert in a dynamic environment
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies
• Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• Comfortable using workplace technology; experience with CCTV systems considered an asset
• Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment considered an asset
