Responsibilities

***Please note: This is a part-time position, providing multi-site coverage to Mercy San Juan, Mercy General, Mercy Folsom, Methodist, Sierra Nevada Medical Hospital, and Woodland Hospital.

Position Summary:

Under general direction and focusing on coordinating the operations for the physicians in the Hospital Medicine Department, the Hospital Medicine Tech acts as lead person providing clerical support for hospital medicine operations at the assigned hospital location. The role involves performing a variety of duties including:

  1. Providing oversight and preparing Hospitalist census reports through daily tracking and coordination of patient flow, including 'hot lists.'
  2. Overseeing the completion and reconciliation of the E-billing system and collaborating with the Business Office for timely processing.
  3. Coordinating patient admissions and physician assignments.
  4. Preparing logs, records, schedules, files, manuals, and reports with high accuracy.
  5. Facilitating patient/physician identification, tracking, and education as needed.
  6. Acting as liaison between the Hospitalist Program, hospital, medical groups, and health plans.
  7. Maintaining office organization, including supply orders and file updates.
  8. Collaborating with support staff as needed.
  9. Extracting data from computer programs and databases to prepare reports, meeting deadlines consistently.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least two years of related experience, including one year in a healthcare setting.
  • Associate degree or equivalent education and experience.

Special Skills:

  • Knowledge of health insurance, medical billing, medical terminology, and hospital operations.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent working skills.
  • Experience with business office procedures, confidentiality, and data management.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Google Workspace, Cerner/Care Connect, MS4, and billing software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four or more years of healthcare or acute care experience.
  • Previous experience in a Hospitalist or Hospital Medicine Department is highly desired.
