Job summary

Next Youth Job is seeking a responsible home support worker/caregiver to assist an elderly person with a disability in Norwich, Ontario. Work occurs in the employer's home; public transportation is available, and live-in accommodation may be provided at no charge, though not a condition of employment.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering $22/hour for 30–44 hours per week. Six months of related experience is preferred, and first aid certification is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Six months work experience is preferred
• First aid certification is preferred
• Secondary (high) School Certificate; College or other courses related to home support

Responsibilities

• Administer bedside and personal care
• Assist clients in water (i.e. pool)
• Assist in regular exercise, e.g., walk
• Assume full responsibility for household (in absence of householder)
• Feed or assist in feeding
• Change non-sterile dressings
• Provide personal care
• Provide companionship
• Plan therapeutic diets and menus
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
• Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals.
