Job summary

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority invites applications for a term position in Fort Garry Home Care under WRHA Community Health Services. This in-person role supports housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation for clients, with English communication and potential travel to client homes.

Shifts include 8:00-16:30 on specified weeks, subject to collective agreement changes. The position requires a Manitoba Class 5 driver's license and may require a Food Handler's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation for clients.
• Provide care in client homes as assigned by the team.
• Maintain safety, hygiene and infection control standards according to policies.
• Coordinate with health professionals and caregivers as required.
• Ability to travel between client homes when necessary.

Position Overview

Experience

• Previous experience with housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and/or willingness to travel year- round.
• Food Handler’s Certificate may be required.

• Information and/or training will be provided for the following:
  • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions).
  • Regional and Program policies and procedures.
  • Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.

Physical Requirements

• May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
• May encounter exposure to disease, blood, body fluids, pest infestation, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, residual smoke, pets, pet dander, etc.
• Position involves extensive physical activities such as standing, transferring, and transporting patients and equipment handling between 10-20kg on a regular basis.
• Ability to work shift work and weekends.
• May be required to travel between client’s homes.
  

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
