Job summary

Sterling Homes is seeking a Home Quality Assurance Supervisor in Calgary to oversee daily QC operations and walk homeowners through orientations. You’ll develop and monitor QC processes to ensure homes meet Sterling Homes’ standards and serve as a primary contact for homeowners.

Ideal candidates bring strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, plus experience in residential construction quality assurance and knowledge of building codes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of Site Supervision or 3 years of Quality Assurance experience in residential construction.
• Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Criminal record check required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint), Site Docs and BuildPro.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Quality Control operations and Walkthrough Orientations.
• Develop, monitor and manage quality control processes to ensure home delivery to Sterling Homes’ quality standards.
• Act as key contact between homeowners and the Construction Team.
• Review homes, conduct QC inspections prior to insulation and Walkthrough Orientation.
• Identify critical control points and preventive measures for QC plans.
• Collaborate with site staff, trades and production to review inspection results and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate QA program with construction, warranty and design departments.
• Prepare quality documentation and reports.
• Respond to homeowner inquiries with a focus on customer experience.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Construction Manager, as the Home Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will oversee daily Quality Control operations and Walkthrough Orientations. You will also develop, monitor and manage quality control processes to ensure homes are delivered to Sterling Homes’ quality standards while acting as a key point of contact between homeowners and the Construction Team.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and becoming familiar with the homes you will oversee.
• Conducting Quality Control Inspections prior to insulation and Walkthrough Orientation.
• Conducting Walkthrough Orientations and preparing deficiency lists before and during homeowner orientations.
• Identifying critical control points and preventive measures to support the design and implementation of Quality Control plans.
• Interpreting construction drawings, interior design specifications and shop drawings to support quality outcomes.
• Collaborating with site staff, trades and production teams to review inspection results, develop corrective actions and resolve deficiencies.
• Coordinating the quality assurance program with construction, warranty and design departments.
• Evaluating existing procedures and conducting internal audits to ensure quality standards are effectively implemented.
• Compiling, analyzing and summarizing industry trends, past processes, corrective actions and re-validations to prepare quality documentation and reports.
• Responding to homeowner enquiries with a focus on the customer experience.

• Minimum 5 years of Site Supervision or Field experience in the residential construction industry; or minimum 3 years of Quality Assurance experience in the residential construction industry.
• Knowledge of building codes and requirements, as well as varying techniques for different construction procedures.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint), Site Docs and BuildPro.

Working Conditions

You primarily work on site during regular business hours. Work will have exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Travel to the regional office or other site locations is required. Overtime may occasionally be required.
