Job summary

Sterling Homes Calgary is seeking a Home Quality Assurance Supervisor to oversee daily Quality Control operations on residential sites in Calgary and surrounding areas.

You will lead inspections prior to insulation and walkthrough orientations, develop QC plans, interpret drawings, and coordinate with construction, warranty and design teams to ensure Sterling Homes’ quality standards are met. The role demands strong communication and leadership to deliver an exceptional homeowner experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of site supervision or field experience in residential construction; or 3 years in QA.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Satisfactory criminal record check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Site Docs and BuildPro.

Responsibilities

• Review the homes you will oversee.
• Conduct QC inspections prior to insulation and Walkthrough Orientation.
• Conduct Walkthrough Orientations and prepare deficiency lists.
• Identify critical control points and preventive QC measures.
• Interpret construction drawings and shop drawings to support quality outcomes.
• Collaborate with site staff, trades and production to review results and corrective actions.
• Coordinate the QC program with construction, warranty and design departments.
• Evaluate procedures and perform internal audits to ensure standards.
• Compile and summarize industry trends and past actions for reports.
• Respond to homeowner inquiries with a customer-focused approach.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Construction Manager, as the Home Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will oversee daily Quality Control operations and Walkthrough Orientations. You will also develop, monitor and manage quality control processes to ensure homes are delivered to Sterling Homes’ quality standards while acting as a key point of contact between homeowners and the Construction Team.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include

• Reviewing and becoming familiar with the homes you will oversee.
• Conducting Quality Control Inspections prior to insulation and Walkthrough Orientation.
• Conducting Walkthrough Orientations and preparing deficiency lists before and during homeowner orientations.
• Identifying critical control points and preventive measures to support the design and implementation of Quality Control plans.
• Interpreting construction drawings, interior design specifications and shop drawings to support quality outcomes.
• Collaborating with site staff, trades and production teams to review inspection results, develop corrective actions and resolve deficiencies.
• Coordinating the quality assurance program with construction, warranty and design departments.
• Evaluating existing procedures and conducting internal audits to ensure quality standards are effectively implemented.
• Compiling, analyzing and summarizing industry trends, past processes, corrective actions and re-validations to prepare quality documentation and reports.
• Responding to homeowner enquiries with a focus on the customer experience.

Essential Requirements

• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of Site Supervision or Field experience in the residential construction industry; or minimum 3 years of Quality Assurance experience in the residential construction industry.
• Knowledge of building codes and requirements, as well as varying techniques for different construction procedures.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint), Site Docs and BuildPro.

Working Conditions

You primarily work on site during regular business hours. Work will have exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Travel to the regional office or other site locations is required. Overtime may occasionally be required.
