Job summary

Onni Group in Canada is seeking a reliable Hoist Operator to join the team for the afternoon shift 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. You will operate hoisting machinery to move heavy loads and transport employees to various floors under the direction of the Site Superintendent.

The role requires daily inspections, adherence to safety protocols, good communication with crew, and occasional light general labor.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid Hoist Ticket.
• Construction site experience is a plus.
• Good communication skills and reliability.
• Ability to perform light general labor.
• Must follow safety protocols and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operate and safely move loads using hoist/elevator.
• Conduct daily pre/post inspections of hoist.
• Coordinate with site team for deliveries and shifts.
• Keep hoist deck clean and clear of materials.
• Assist with loading/unloading and general duties as needed.
• Troubleshoot hoist gate contacts and other issues.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Hoist Operator to join our team at Onni to work the afternoon shift from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining hoisting machinery to safely and efficiently moving heavy loads. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of hoisting procedures and safety protocols, and be able to effectively communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient workflow. This position reporting directly to the Site Superintendent.

What You Will Do

• Responsible for the safe operation of hoist/elevator to transport employees to various floors
• Conduct daily pre/post inspections of hoist
• Some light general labor
• Sweeping hoist and hoist deck
• Ensuring hoist deck is free from all materials at the end of each shift
• Organizing deliveries
• Cleaning and loading down garbage from skip units
• Letting foreperson know before garbage bins are full and ready for call out
• Manage temp labour cleaning garbage
• Responsible for troubleshooting hoist gate contacts and hoist problems
• Be flexible with break times
• Wear required ear protection as per WSBC requirements
• Responsible for replacing hoist loading deck safety handrails after deliveries.
• Any other duties assigned by manager

What You Bring

• Hold a valid Hoist Ticket
• Able to perform well in high-demand situations.
• Hard hat, vest and steel-toe boots required.
• Previous construction site experience.
• Good communication skills and positive attitude
