Job summary

YWCA Toronto is seeking a Hoarding and Environmental Health Case Worker to deliver client-centered support within its Housing Support Program at Church Street. You will coordinate case management, life skills coaching, and integrated interventions with health, housing, and social services to promote safe, healthy, and stable housing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of pest control and hoarding issues, and harm reduction goals.
• Knowledge of bed bugs and pest concerns and hoarding follow-up.
• 3-5 years in supportive housing or related direct service work.
• Excellent crisis intervention and conflict mediation skills.
• Ability to work independently and develop groups.
• Experience building leadership and innovative programming.
• Client-centered, strengths-based counseling and group work.
• Residential Tenancies Act, Housing Services Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code knowledge.
• Strong communication and collaboration with diverse communities.
• Second language or cultural knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Use eviction prevention to support tenants with mental health/substance challenges.
• Provide crisis prevention, intervention and counseling for women and gender-diverse people.
• Assist tenants to resolve arrears, pest control and hoarding management issues.
• Act as a hoarding specialist within a harm-reduction framework.
• Collaborate with staff, Property Services and tenants for bedbug/pest removal and de-cluttering education.
• Develop individualized support plans with tenants and partners.
• Create programming to build community capacity using harm reduction.
