Job summary

YWCA Toronto is seeking a Harm Reduction – Caseworker for the Housing Support Program at Church Street. The role focuses on designing and delivering programming that empowers tenants, promotes harm reduction, and supports housing stability and community participation.

Responsibilities include eviction prevention, developing client-centered plans, crisis prevention, and collaboration with referral partners to sustain tenancy and well-being. On-site work at 389 Church Street.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in social work or related field (e.g., social health disciplines).
• 3–5 years’ experience in supportive housing or related direct service with vulnerable populations.
• Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma and mental health; client-centered, strengths-based approach.

Responsibilities

• Prevent eviction and support tenancy obligations.
• Facilitate tenant-centered activities using harm reduction principles.
• Provide crisis prevention, intervention and counseling.
• Engage tenants to identify needs and develop treatment and support plans.
• Collaborate with tenant networks and referral partners for ongoing support.
• Create and deliver programs building community capacity using harm reduction.
