Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs in Edmonton's Base Laboratory is seeking a Histology Assistant to support Anatomic Pathology. You will handle tissue specimens, perform grossing and description, and assist with dissection, ensuring proper processing.

You will contribute to quality assurance, maintain equipment, and collaborate with laboratory staff. Completion of MLT program preferred, with relevant experience in pathology; VSS check required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
• Equivalent education or experience will be considered.
• Proof of completion of Anatomy and Physiology, and Medical Terminology courses.
• Recent and relevant experience in Anatomic Pathology is preferred.
• Experience with DMO voice recognition software is an asset.
• Experience with EPIC-Beaker LIS is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen acceptance, gross description, and dissection of surgical tissue.
• Handle and prepare tissue for routine or specialized processing.
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments; routine maintenance.
• File and discard specimens; decalcification as required.
• Provide coaching and feedback to staff and students.
