Job summary

Alberta Precision Labs is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist I in Microbiology. The role involves daily processing, testing, analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples to support acute care hospitals, long-term facilities and regional clients.

You will work under supervision in a 24/7 Microbiology Base Lab, collaborating with multiple designations. The position requires an accredited MLT program and CMLTA registration or eligibility, CSMLS certification if applicable, and recent

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited MLT program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
• CSMLS certification with current CMLTA registration or eligibility.
• Experience as an MLT in Microbiology within the last 2 years or student practical training in Microbiology within the last 2 years.
• Proven interpersonal skills for dealing with people in a team.

Responsibilities

• Daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory.

Job description

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist I in Microbiology, you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of routine and specialized microbiological tests and procedures consistent with technical knowledge/skills required for the department to deliver accurate, timely results to clients. This position reports directly to a Clinical Supervisor in the Microbiology Laboratory and works collaboratively with multiple laboratory designations within Microbiology and the Health Care community. The Microbiology department operates 24/7 in order to provide quality service to acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, community physicians and regional clients from Central Alberta through remote and rural communities in Northern Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Microbiology partners with our clients to play a key role in training, antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control.

Required Qualifications:
