Job summary

Shared Health is seeking a Pathology Assistant in Winnipeg to perform reception, gross description and dissection of surgical tissue specimens and prepare tissues for microscopic diagnosis. This in-person role requires adherence to QA programs and accreditation standards.

The successful candidate will have a pathology assistant program credential or a BSc with anatomy and physiology, and MLT histology experience; CAP membership is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of Histology procedures.
• Knowledge of Routine Practices.
• Follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities

• Reception, gross description and dissection of surgical tissue specimens.
• Select and prepare tissue specimens for processing for microscopic diagnosis.
• Maintain a safe environment and comply with QA programs and accreditation standards.
• Operate in accordance with Shared Health policies and applicable legislation.
• Work under the direction of Charge Technologist and Medical Site Manager.
