Job summary

Mainroad North Island Contracting LP in Gold River, BC is hiring for a Highway Maintenance Worker (Seasonal/Casual) to support winter operations from November 2026 to April 2027. This is a seasonal/casual position and will require working outdoors in varying conditions across the North Island.

You will operate sanding, plowing and salting trucks, assist with snow and ice control, haul materials, and perform general highway maintenance as part of a team while prioritizing safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Previous construction and/or highway maintenance experience is an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to working safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate sanding, plowing and salting trucks during winter weather events.
• Assist with snow and ice control on highways and roadways.
• Operate and drive trucks to haul materials.
• Clear litter, debris and roadkill from roadways.
• Complete general highway maintenance activities as required.
• Work outdoors in changing and sometimes challenging weather conditions.

Description

Mainroad Group has been a leader in BC’s highway maintenance industry for over 30 years, helping keep communities connected through safe and reliable highways.

We are looking for Highway Maintenance Driver/Labourers to join our Gold River team for the upcoming winter season, approximately November 2026 to April 2027. This is a seasonal/casual position.

Our Highway Maintenance Driver/Labourers play an important role in supporting winter road maintenance operations throughout the North Island area. Successful candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and graveyard shifts, and may be required to work on‑call during snow and winter weather events.
