Job summary

Mainroad North Island Contracting LP in Cumberland, BC is seeking Highway Maintenance Driver/Labourers for the upcoming winter season (Nov 2026 – Apr 2027). This seasonal/casual role supports winter road maintenance across the North Island, with variable shifts, including nights and on-call snow events.

Applicants must hold a valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement and have strong teamwork, safety commitment, and mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence with Air Brake Endorsement.
• Previous construction and/or highway maintenance experience is an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn quickly.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to working safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate sanding, plowing and salting trucks during winter weather events.
• Assist with snow and ice control on highways and roadways
• Operate and drive trucks to haul materials
• Clear litter, debris and roadkill from roadways
• Complete general highway maintenance activities as required
• Work outdoors in changing and sometimes challenging weather conditions

Description

Mainroad Group has been a leader in BC's highway maintenance industry for over 30 years, helping keep communities connected through safe and reliable highways.

We are looking for Highway Maintenance Driver/Labourers to join our Cumberland team for the upcoming winter season, approximately November 2026 to April 2027. This is a seasonal/casual position.

Our Highway Maintenance Driver/Labourers play an important role in supporting winter road maintenance operations throughout the North Island area. Successful candidates must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and graveyard shifts, and may be required to work on-call during snow and winter weather events.

What you'll do:

• Operate sanding, plowing and salting trucks during winter weather events.
