Job summary

Rocky View Schools invites applications for a full-time High School teaching position on the Complexity team at Chestermere High School, starting August 27, 2026. Chestermere High School serves grades 10-12 and is located in the City of Chestermere.

The successful candidate must hold an Alberta Teaching Certificate, have a minimum of 5 years of classroom experience, and be prepared to lead inclusive education initiatives. References and a Vulnerable Sector Check are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years classroom teacher experience.
• Experience in Learning Supports or Inclusive Education is asset.
• Experience with English as an Additional Language Learners or literacy/numeracy coaching is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Implement UDL and MTSS to ensure accessible curriculum for all students.
• Develop IPPs and positive behaviour support plans to support student growth.
• Lead and support complex behavioural interventions and supports.
• Use progress monitoring to translate student needs into actionable classroom strategies.
• Coach and model effective practices with teams to build staff capacity.

This position is not open to those holding a Continuing Teaching contract with RVS.

The Successful Candidate Must Possess The Following

• Minimum 5 years classroom teacher experience
• Specialized Expertise: At least 1 year of dedicated experience or educational background in one of the following is an asset:
  • Learning Supports or Inclusive Education (e.g., LST, or specialized certification)
  • Working with students who are English as an Additional Language Learners
  • Literacy or Numeracy Coaching

The Successful Candidate Will

• have the ability to implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Tiered Interventions (MTSS) to ensure all students can access curriculum appropriate to their level
• be well-versed in student support planning in development and actualization of Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) and positive behaviour support plans
• excel in the implementation of complex behavioural supports
• demonstrate data-driven advocacy and are skilled in using progress monitoring and assessments to translate student needs into actionable classroom strategies
• work effectively with teams of teachers and support staff to coach and model effective practices that will build staff capacity to address classroom complexities

• Applicants must possess or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate. To be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate you must have applied for initial certification with Alberta Education at .
• External applicants must provide a professional letter of reference, attached to the job application, from their most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months
• The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment.
