STEM Innovation Academy is a dynamic public charter school in Calgary, founded in September 2021. Our junior high campus serves over 450 students in grades 7-9, while our high school campus, launched in September 2022 in the University Innovation Quarter, has rapidly grown to host 710 students with plans to reach a capacity of 1,000 students.

Position Information

High School Mathematics Teacher

Education and Experience

  1. Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  2. Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

  1. Exemplary, evidence-based instructional practices in high school Mathematics that lead to student success.
  2. Experience, confidence, knowledge, and understanding of Alberta Program of Studies for Mathematics.
  3. Commitment to academic rigor and excellence.
  4. Capacity to differentiate instructional practices, use effective student engagement strategies, and employ outcome-based assessment and reporting.
  5. Collaboration with Math team to develop best practice, innovative learning experiences, and common summative assessments.
  6. Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  7. Commitment to infusing technology into core curriculum where appropriate.
  8. Innovators mindset - willingness to take risks and adapt to new challenges and interest in acquiring the skill sets required to teach various STEM option courses and/or a high school Science course.
  9. Basic understanding of design & engineering, digital media technologies, and/or computational thinking is an asset.
  10. Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.
  11. Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Pasco Data Collection systems, Schoology, GradeCam, etc.
