Job summary

Oxford Learning Stoney Creek is seeking a High School English & Math Tutor to support students in Richmond, BC. The role is part-time, in-person, with afternoon and weekend hours suitable for students and commuting candidates.

You will tutor up to three students at a time, follow Oxford Learning methodologies, and provide post-lesson notes and regular updates to parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant certification in a field related to English/Math.
• Fourth year university students with tutoring experience may be considered.
• Teaching certification is an asset.
• Knowledge of current K-12 curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three students at a time at different levels.
• Deliver both online and in-person sessions (role is in-person).
• Follow Oxford Learning methodologies.
• Fill in post-lesson notes and daily student updates.
• Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor.

Job description

High School English & Math Tutor

Location: Richmond, British Columbia

Employment Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 to $21.00 per hour

Position Requirements

• Available at least 3 days a week: Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 7:00pm, and Saturdays 9:00am - 1:00pm.
• In-person role; must commute to Richmond; no relocation package offered.
• Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
• Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Richmond area.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field.
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
• Teaching certification an asset.
• Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum.

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level.
• Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding.
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
