Job summary

AB Precision Lab Zone in Edmonton (U of A Hospital) is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Technologist I to perform hematology analyses, verify results, and maintain quality control. You will process diagnostic samples, operate analyzers, and report findings as part of Lab Medicine - Hematology.

The role requires accreditation, active CMLTA registration, and the ability to work independently or in a team, including on-call duties for CL3 containment if activated.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
• Good understanding of quality control theory and application.
• Strong cell morphology skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Process, test, analyze results and report diagnostic samples daily.
• Perform routine and specialized hematology procedures.
• Maintain instruments and troubleshoot analyzers; participate in QC/QA programs.
• Train new staff and students; support team operations.
• On call for risk group 4 pathogen testing with enhanced PPE in CL3 containment when activated.
