Job summary

Town of Banff is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with CVIP for our Fleet team in Banff. You will perform inspections, diagnostics and repairs to keep the town’s fleet safe in mountain conditions.

Full-time, permanent position with competitive wages and benefits. Requires Alberta journeyman/red seal, CVIP certification (or ability to obtain), Class 3Q license, and a clean driver’s abstract. LEED-certified workplace and ski pass perks offered.

  • Alberta journeyman (or red seal) and CVIP certification (or ability to acquire within probation).
  • Valid Alberta Class 3Q license and experience with fleet maintenance.
  • Clear driver’s abstract and RCMP background check.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Complete CVIP inspections in compliance with Alberta Transportation.
  • Support on-call services to return vehicles to service safely.

Heavy Equipment Technician (with CVIP) - Fleet

Full-Time, Permanent

The Town of Banff is looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with sound experience who will “Take Care of Banff” by ensuring our town’s fleet runs safely and reliably in mountain conditions. You will be joining the Town of Banff Fleet team, where we are committed to working collaboratively to ensure everyone is motivated and successful.

Responsibilities
  • perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles, heavy equipment and complete Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections.
  • Documenting compliant work with Alberta Transportation requirements.
  • support on-call services to return vehicles to service safely.
Qualifications
  • Alberta-journeyman (or equivalent red seal) and CVIP certification (or ability to acquire this certification within probation) but the Town of Banff will also consider those individuals who are currently completing an apprenticeship program.
  • In addition to the certifications required, you have a valid Alberta Class 3Q license, experience in equipment and vehicle repair and maintenance, knowledge of workplace safety programs and can produce a clear driver’s abstract and RCMP criminal background check.

This position is based on 40 hours per week, working a Sunday through Wednesday shift and on–call rotation.

The starting wage for this position will be based on experience and the level of certification, however for a fully certified red seal heavy equipment technician (HET) the wage is $55.00 per hour.
