Job summary

The Town of Banff is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) to keep our fleet safe and reliable in mountain conditions. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and CVIP inspections, documenting compliant work with Alberta Transportation requirements.

Based on experience and Red Seal certification, the wage starts at 55 CAD per hour. This full-time role follows a Sunday–Wednesday schedule with an on-call rotation, and a 40-hour work week in Banff.

Role

The Town of Banff is looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with sound experience who will “Take Care of Banff” by ensuring our town’s fleet runs safely and reliably in mountain conditions. You will be joining the Town of Banff Fleet team, where we are committed to working collaboratively to ensure everyone is motivated and successful.

Responsibilities

You will perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles, heavy equipment and complete Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections. Documenting compliant work with Alberta Transportation requirements. This position also requires the candidate to support on-call services to return vehicles to service safely.

Contract & Working Hours

This position is based on 40 hours per week, working a Sunday through Wednesday shift and on–call rotation.

Wage

The starting wage for this position will be based on experience and the level of certification, however for a fully certified red seal heavy equipment technician (HET) the wage is $55.00 per hour.
