Job summary

Creative Industries Ltd. in Fort McMurray, Alberta, is seeking a skilled HET (Off Road) Technician to perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on our off-road fleet and customer equipment.

You will troubleshoot major and minor problems and repair essential components. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will work shifts on a 7-on/7-off rotation, adhere to safety procedures, maintain maintenance records and communicate clearly in English.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or GED equivalency.
• Valid Alberta Journeyman Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate OR Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Off Road).
• Minimum 2 years Off Road experience post Journeyman certification on Dozers, Graders and Excavators.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with a clean 3 year abstract.
• Strong electrical and hydraulic knowledge is preferred.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.
• Must have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, perform preventive maintenance, failure analysis and diagnostics on off-road equipment.
• Ensure repairs are completed safely, cost-effectively and per manufacturers specifications when applicable.
• Execute maintenance services and repairs as scheduled by the Service Manager.
• Maintain maintenance reports and documentation; report incidents promptly.

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the HET (Off Road) is responsible to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of our Off Road fleet, as well as, external customer equipment. The incumbent will troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components.

The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of CILTD, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.

Multiple Shift Availability; rotation of 7 days on, 7 days off.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, failure analysis, parts inspections, diagnostic analysis, component change outs on a variety of off road equipment;
• Ensure repairs and maintenance are being completed in a safe, cost and time effective manner and as per manufacturers specifications if applicable;

• Execute maintenance services and repairs as scheduled by the Service Manager;

• Maintain maintenance reports and documentation;
  
• Report all incidents, damage and near-misses immediately; and,
• Other relatable duties as required.
  

Qualifications

• Grade twelve (12) Diploma or General Educational Diploma ‘GED’ equivalency is required;
• A valid Alberta Journeyman Equipment Technician (Off Road) Certificate OR, an

• Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road);
• Minimum two (2) years Off Road experience post Journeyman certification on Dozers, Graders and Excavators;
• Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License, along with a clean five (3) year driver’s abstract is required;
• Strong electrical and hydraulic knowledge is preferred;
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities;
• Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner;
• Proven understanding of safe work practices and mitigating risk;
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize job responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment;
• General knowledge of computer applications; and,
• Must have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
