Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies in Mississauga is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to maintain and repair construction and forestry equipment in a shop environment. This afternoon shift position requires a certified Journeyperson in Heavy Duty Equipment and strong electrical diagnostics; you will document work orders, use John Deere Service Advisor, and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent.
• Previous heavy equipment experience preferred.
• Electrical diagnosis/troubleshooting and aftertreatment systems experience an asset.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate condition, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy‑duty equipment.
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, and computer systems safely.
• Document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time spent.
• Assess task hazards and ensure safe, standards-based work.
• Use John Deere Service Advisor to document maintenance and diagnosis.
• Locate and order parts from parts personnel.
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.

Job description

Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Mississauga Construction & Forestry location.

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

Note: This position is for the afternoon shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM).

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy-duty equipment
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

What We Look For

• Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred
• Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred
• Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment considered an asset
• Experience with electrical diagnosis /troubleshooting and aftertreatment systems considered an asset
