Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for its Fort St. John Construction and Forestry location. The role focuses on repair and maintenance of construction and forestry equipment in a shop setting.

The successful candidate will have previous heavy equipment experience and ideally be a certified journeyperson. This position offers several shifts, strong safety expectations, and a pathway to career advancement within Brandt’s nationwide network.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical experience in heavy equipment environment preferred.
• Journeyperson in Heavy Duty Equipment trade preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the working condition of heavy duty equipment.
• Diagnose, disassemble/assemble, and repair equipment.
• Order parts for repairs and use parts catalogs.
• Document machine information and time on work orders.
• Ensure work is performed safely and to standards.
• Document maintenance and diagnostics using computer systems.
• Road test equipment and verify attachment operation.

Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Fort St. John Construction and Forestry location. We have various shifts available for this position.

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry based equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment


• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently


• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems


• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken


• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards


• Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis


• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel


• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

What We Look For

• Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred


• Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred


• Must be committed to customer service and service excellence


• Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel


• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
