Job description

Brandt is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling for our Saskatoon location. The technician independently performs diagnostics, service, maintenance, and repair work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment efficiently. Resolves customer issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Performance:

• Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.
• Maintain high productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
• Achieve a work quality metric of 98% (work completed correctly the first time).

Work Systems And Procedures

• Accurately record all work for customer and warranty records.
• Maintain current knowledge of equipment specific to the industry/branch location.
• Keep a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations, maintaining thorough understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards to ensure a safe environment for employees and customers.
• Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste materials.
• Work within the guidelines set by management.
• Perform all service tasks assigned by the Material Handling Service Manager or Department Foreman.
• Participate in service training programs to develop skills and knowledge, including industry-specific technologies.
• Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Mentor and oversee apprentices.

Diagnostic and Repair Tasks

• Perform diagnostics on power equipment to determine repair needs.
• Diagnose and repair systems, including disassembly, assembly, and repair.
• Conduct inspections for customers, manufacturers, or government bodies.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, electric carts, and transporters.
• Use tools like drill presses, grinders, air compressors, and hand/power tools for maintenance and repairs.
• Prepare reports and forms related to job assignments, including submitting work orders immediately after job completion.
