Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling for our Milton location. The technician independently performs diagnostics, service, maintenance, and repairs on customer and dealer-owned equipment, ensuring customer issues are resolved promptly and satisfactorily.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Performance
- Work within budgets and approvals set by the Service Manager.
- Maintain high productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
- Achieve a work quality metric of 98% (first-time right).
Work Systems and Procedures
- Accurately document all work for customer and warranty records.
- Maintain current knowledge of equipment relevant to the industry and branch location.
- Keep a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations, maintaining a thorough understanding of Occupational Health & Safety standards to ensure a safe environment for employees and customers.
- Properly dispose of hazardous waste materials following regulations.
- Adhere to guidelines set by management.
- Perform all assigned service tasks as directed by the Material Handling Service Manager or Foreman.
- Participate in ongoing service training to develop skills and knowledge, including industry-specific technologies.
- Maintain and care for department tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Mentor and oversee apprentices.
Diagnostics and Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulic Repairs
- Perform diagnostics on power equipment to identify repairs needed.
- Diagnose and repair related systems, including disassembly and reassembly.
- Conduct customer, manufacturer, or government inspections.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, stackers, electric carts, and transporters.
- Utilize tools like drills, grinders, air compressors, and hand/power tools for maintenance and repairs.
- Complete all reports and forms, including submitting work orders immediately upon job completion.
