Job Title: Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling

Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling for our Calgary location. This role involves performing diagnostics, service, maintenance, and repairs on customer and dealer-owned equipment efficiently. The technician will resolve customer issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Performance

• Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.
• Maintain high productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
• Achieve a work quality metric of 98% (first-time right).

Work Systems and Procedures

• Accurately record all work performed for customer and warranty records.
• Maintain current knowledge of equipment specific to the industry and branch location.
• Keep a clean and organized work environment.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations, understanding and adhering to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards to ensure a safe workplace for all.
• Properly dispose of hazardous waste materials according to procedures.
• Work within the guidelines set by management.
• Perform all service tasks assigned by the Material Handling Service Manager or Foreman.
• Participate in training programs to develop skills and knowledge, including industry-specific technologies.
• Maintain and care for tools, equipment, and vehicles used in the department.
• Mentor and oversee apprentices.

Diagnostics and Mechanical, Electrical, or Hydraulic Repairs

• Perform diagnostics to identify repair needs on power equipment.
• Diagnose and repair related systems, including disassembly, assembly, and repairs.
• Conduct inspections required by customers, manufacturers, or government agencies.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment such as forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, and transporters.
• Use tools like drill presses, grinders, air compressors, and hand/power tools for maintenance and repairs.
• Complete all reports and forms related to job assignments promptly (e.g., Work Order upon job completion).
