Job summary

Midlite Construction LP in Fort McMurray is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) to maintain and repair a wide range of industrial and construction machinery.

You will diagnose, repair, and service light vehicles, heavy trucks, trailers, and equipment, keeping records, following safety standards, and supporting uptime in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Dealership or industrial equipment repair experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience with cranes, forklifts, or similar heavy equipment.
• Strong mechanical repair background including welding, assembly, and use of hand/tools.
• HVAC systems or automotive repair knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with schematics and electrical systems for troubleshooting.
• Experience with farm machinery or large industrial equipment is advantageous.
• Ability to lift heavy loads safely and operate heavy equipment when needed.
• Prior mechanic experience plus good customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, and part replacements, to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Conduct repairs using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics to restore machinery to operational standards.
• Assemble new equipment components and assist with installation projects as needed.
• Operate heavy equipment safely during maintenance procedures when required.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to diagnose problems accurately.
• Maintain detailed service records of repairs and maintenance activities.
• Complete service records, inspection reports, and work orders accurately.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all work activities.
• Collaborate with team members to improve maintenance procedures and reduce downtime

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, with experience working on heavy equipment. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of light-duty vehicles, heavy trucks, trailers, and construction equipment to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and ready for the job
