Job summary

Thorhild County is seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy machinery, trucks and fire equipment. The role requires diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

The successful candidate will hold a journeyperson certificate or be a minimum 3rd year apprentice, possess a valid Alberta CVIP License and Class 5 driver’s license, and be willing to complete First Aid.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson certification or minimum 3rd year apprenticeship.
• Valid Alberta CVIP Inspection License.
• Standard First Aid or willing to obtain.
• Physical ability for manual tasks and outdoor work.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Experience with power/hand tools and heavy equipment.
• Criminal records check and driving abstract required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, fire equipment, agricultural gear, and trailers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and engine issues.
• Perform CV inspections and ensure safety/regulatory compliance.
• Inspect equipment and identify maintenance needs proactively.
• Maintain service records, inspection reports, and repair docs.
• Assist in all duties as directed; participate in on-call rotations.
