Job summary

Brucejack Mine in northern British Columbia is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support winter operations at Brucejack Camp. You will operate a range of heavy equipment to maintain roads and site infrastructure while adhering to strict safety standards in a remote camp.

The role is temporary and requires 3–5 years of hands-on experience, a valid driver's license (Class 5; Class 1 preferred), and ability to work 12-hour shifts.

Job description

Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. We work closely with local First Nations communities including the Nisga’a, Tahltan, Gitanyow, and Gitxsan, to build respectful partnerships and celebrate our shared community.

Role Purpose

Support safe and efficient winter operations at Brucejack by operating heavy equipment to maintain roads, access areas, and site infrastructure in extreme weather conditions. Help ensure uninterrupted site operations while maintaining the highest safety standards. This is a temporary Heavy Equipment Operator Role.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Operate excavators, skid-steer dozers, loaders, graders, rock trucks, forklifts, and other heavy equipment for snow removal and site support activities.
  • Load, unload, move, and transport materials safely using equipment, forks, and rigging.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections, basic maintenance, and refueling of equipment.
  • Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and follow site safety procedures and FLRHA protocols.
  • Maintain safe work areas and report hazards, incidents, or equipment concerns.
  • Work safely and effectively in a remote camp environment on 12-hour rotational shifts.
Required Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Candidates with a Class 1 driver's license will be prioritized.
  • 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment, ideally in mining, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme winter weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • WHMIS and TDG certifications are considered assets.
  • Previous camp, mining, or remote-site experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$48.73 per year/hour. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer extended to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history.
