Job summary

Corp of the Township of Russell RP0001 is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support road, bridge and building construction and maintenance. The role includes operating backhoes and loaders, inspecting infrastructure, and performing snow removal and regular maintenance.

The position requires a high school diploma, at least three years’ equipment experience, a valid Class DZ license, and willingness to work variable hours and be on call during winter operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• On-call 24/7 during winter maintenance and snow removal.
• Residence within 30 minutes of municipal garage preferred.
• Valid Class DZ driver’s license required.
• Specialized training or apprenticeship in heavy equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, loaders) for roads, parking lots, drainage and signage.
• Inspect traffic signs, bridges, drainage and lighting; report and recommend repairs.
• Repair, maintain and resurface roads during projects.
• Perform snow removal and ice control on municipal roads and parking lots.
• Carry out routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform manual labor related to public works infrastructure maintenance.
