Job summary

The Township of Perth East is seeking an Operator/Labourer to maintain road infrastructure and support winter operations, roadside maintenance, and public works projects. The role requires operating a range of heavy equipment and performing basic maintenance tasks.

We offer an hourly pay range, OMERS pension, comprehensive benefits, and an emphasis on safety and teamwork within a public works environment in Milverton, Ontario.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent education required.
• Minimum of one year previous work experience, preferably with large equipment.
• Willingness to obtain additional certifications as required (e.g. chainsaw operation, first aid, traffic control).
• Mechanical and technical ability to operate vehicles, machinery, equipment and tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform road surface maintenance activities including calcium application, hauling, spreading and grading of granular materials.
• Carry out winter control operations on Township roadways, sidewalks and parking lots.
• Operate tandem and/or tri-axle dump trucks, road graders and other heavy equipment as required.
• Engage with the public professionally and courteously, addressing concerns and providing assistance as needed.
