Job summary

KLS Earthworks & Environmental in Western Canada seeks experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our field team in Calgary, AB. Report to the Site Supervisor and safely operate multiple heavy machines across earthworks and site development projects.

We value safety, efficiency, and teamwork; you will coordinate with ground crews, read site plans, perform inspections, and contribute to high-quality earthmoving operations with modern equipment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred.
• Experience operating excavator, dozer, loader, grader, skid steer, packer, rock truck, or similar.
• Experience in earthworks, civil construction, underground utilities, site development, or grading preferred.
• Finish grading and GPS/machine-control experience considered a strong asset.
• Ability to work safely around underground utilities and active crews.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working overtime or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate one or more types of heavy construction equipment.
• Complete earthworks, excavation, grading, loading, backfilling, site development per project requirements.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and other project information.
• Work safely around underground and overhead utilities and coordinate with crews.
• Maintain grades, depths, slopes, and elevations per work requirements.
• Utilize GPS and machine-control systems where applicable.
• Identify equipment issues and report them to the Supervisor; assist ground crews when needed.
